¡Feliz Día del Padre!

Superintendent Galaviz Dear Canutillo Community,

On this Father’s Day weekend, it is good to reflect on the essential role that fathers and father figures play in the lives of our children. In the Canutillo Independent School District, we deeply appreciate the contributions of our fathers, not only within their families but also within our educational community. Fathers are instrumental in fostering a love for learning, supporting educational growth and reinforcing the importance of education in their children’s lives.

Fathers have a unique influence on their children’s educational journey. Research consistently shows that children with involved fathers are more likely to excel academically, have better social skills and demonstrate improved behavior. When fathers actively participate in their children’s education, it sends a powerful message about the value of learning, dedication and hard work. At Canutillo ISD, we recognize this impact and strive to create numerous opportunities for fathers to engage with our schools.

We have implemented various programs designed to involve fathers more deeply in the educational process. From Parent-Teacher Organizations (PTOs) and booster clubs to volunteering and patrolling our school grounds, there are numerous ways for fathers to contribute their time and talents. These programs not only benefit the school community but also strengthen the bond between fathers and their children.

One of the primary ways fathers can get involved is through our PTOs. These organizations provide a platform for parents to collaborate with teachers and school administrators to enhance the educational experience for all students. Fathers who join PTOs can participate in decision-making processes, help organize events, and support school initiatives. Their presence and input are invaluable, bringing diverse perspectives and ideas that enrich our school community.

Booster clubs are another excellent avenue for fathers to engage with our schools. These clubs support various extracurricular activities, such as sports, music and arts programs. Fathers who join booster clubs can help with fundraising efforts, organize events and provide logistical support. Their involvement not only enhances the quality of these programs but also demonstrates to their children the importance of dedication and teamwork.

Volunteer opportunities abound within our district, offering fathers the chance to contribute in meaningful ways. Whether it’s helping in the classroom, assisting with school events or providing mentorship to students, fathers can make a significant impact through their volunteer efforts. Many fathers also help with traffic control during peak hours, ensuring the safety of our students as they arrive and depart from school. This visible commitment to the well-being of our children reinforces the message that education is a priority.

Having children see that their fathers place importance on schools and education has a profound impact. When fathers are visibly involved in school activities, it reinforces the idea that education is a shared responsibility and a valued pursuit. It shows children that their fathers care about their academic success and are willing to invest time and effort to support their learning journey.

At Canutillo ISD, we are committed to fostering an environment where fathers feel welcomed and encouraged to participate. We believe that every father has something valuable to contribute, and their involvement can make a significant difference in the educational outcomes of their children. We invite all fathers to get more involved in our schools. Whether you have a few hours to spare each month or can commit to regular participation, your presence and support are greatly appreciated.

To find out how you can get involved, we encourage you to contact your child’s campus and ask about opportunities to engage. Our school administrators and staff are more than happy to provide information on how you can contribute and make a positive impact.

As we celebrate Father’s Day, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the fathers and father figures in our Canutillo community. Your dedication, support and involvement play a crucial role in the success and well-being of our students. You are helping to shape the future by instilling a love for learning and demonstrating the importance of education.

On behalf of all of us in the Canutillo Independent School District, I wish all our dads a very happy Father’s Day. ¡Feliz Día del Padre! Your efforts are making a difference, and we look forward to continuing to work together to provide the best possible education for our children.
