Dr. Duane Galindo named the 2023 Canutillo High School Outstanding Ex
Canutillo High School this year is putting its best foot forward in honoring an alum who has worked tirelessly to represent the values that make CHS one of the best high schools in the region.
The school this year selected noted El Paso podiatrist, Dr. Duane Galindo, as the 2023 Canutillo High School Outstanding Ex. Dr. Galindo will be honored during the annual CHS Homecoming festivities happening Sept. 5-9.
“It’s an honor. I am very surprised and proud,” said Dr. Galindo, a Class of 2005 graduate. “I want to thank the Canutillo High School community. I am immensely grateful and proud to be a Canutillo Eagle.”
Dr. Galindo has fond memories of his time at Canutillo High School. He attended school back when the campus was located on Bosque Road, the current site of Canutillo Middle School. While at Canutillo, he excelled academically and played for the Eagle basketball team.
After graduation, Dr. Galindo attended the University of Texas at El Paso, where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in psychology and double minors in biology and chemistry. After earning his bachelor’s he attended Midwestern University and received a doctorate in podiatric medicine. His residency was done at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in association with University Hospital, Audie Murphy VA Hospital and Texas Methodist Hospital.
Dr. Galindo received extensive training in diabetic foot care, elective and non-elective surgeries, sports medicine, and other specialized areas of podiatric medicine. Dr. Galindo is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and Board Qualified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgeons.
“We are thrilled to be able to recognize the work Dr. Galindo has done to put the name of Canutillo High School out there,” said CHS Principal Candice Marrufo. “His commitment to excellence will serve as a great model for our students to follow and his path to success is inspirational to us all.”
