Superintendent Galaviz Dear Canutillo Community,

As we navigate the final days of early voting for the Canutillo Bond 2024, I am reminded of the critical role that civic engagement plays in shaping the future of our community and our schools. With early voting continuing through April 30, I want to take this opportunity to encourage all eligible voters to cast their ballots and make their voices heard.

Monday and Tuesday will mark the last days of early voting at the two polling locations within Canutillo ISD. From 8 AM to 5 PM, voters can visit either the Canutillo Nutrition Center at Gallegos Park, located at 7351 Bosque Rd, or the El Paso County Northwest Annex at 435 Vinton Rd, to participate in early voting. However, we have heard from some members of our community who are concerned about the limited hours and their ability to make it to the polls due to work commitments.

While we unfortunately cannot adjust the polling hours, I am pleased to share that the polling places will be open on Saturday from 12 noon to 5 PM. We hope that this extended time will accommodate more voters' schedules and provide an opportunity for those who may not be able to vote during the week to participate in the electoral process.

As of Friday morning, we have already seen an encouraging turnout, with 630 people having cast their votes in the election. Many of these voters are new voters or individuals who have never voted before, which speaks volumes about the awareness of the importance of this vote and the desire for community members to have a say in the future of Canutillo ISD.

For those who may still have questions or require more information about the bond, I want to highlight two virtual meetings that we have scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at 5:30 PM. During these meetings, we will share factual information about the bond and address any questions or concerns that voters may have. The links to join these virtual meetings will be shared on our social media channels and mailed to all parents and staff members.

As superintendent, I am committed to ensuring that our community members have access to accurate information and ample opportunities to engage with the issues that affect our schools and our district. The Canutillo Bond 2024 represents a significant investment in the future of our students and our community, and it is essential that voters are well-informed as they make their decisions at the polls.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to all those who have already participated in early voting and those who plan to do so in the coming days. Your participation is vital in shaping the direction of our district and ensuring that our students have access to the resources and facilities they need to succeed.

And don’t worry. If you don’t make it to early voting, you will have another chance to cast a ballot on election day, May 4.
