Today at Jose Damian Elementary I had the distinct honor of witnessing a heartwarming celebration—a testament to the transformative power of mentorship and the unwavering dedication of our students. The occasion was a special presentation recognizing one of our own, Austin Miramontes, a senior at Canutillo High School, as the "Big of the Year" in our collaborative program with Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Paso.
At the heart of our educational philosophy lies a commitment to providing students with enriching, real-world experiences that transcend traditional boundaries. Our Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathways, designed to cultivate skills and passions, serve as pathways to success beyond the classroom. The education preparation class at Canutillo High School exemplifies this ethos, with students dedicating time each week at Damian, immersing themselves in the art of teaching and mentorship.
Austin Miramontes embodies the spirit of service and leadership that defines our CTE programs. A beacon of compassion and dedication, Austin aspires to pursue a degree in social work—a testament to his profound commitment to helping others and making a positive impact on the world.
