Dear Canutillo Community,
As we approach the crucial date of May 4th for the Canutillo Bond 2024 vote, I find myself reflecting on the incredible outreach efforts within our community. The level of engagement and discourse surrounding the bond has been truly inspiring. It's heartening to witness the passion and dedication of our community members as they strive to stay informed and make their voices heard.
The importance of this bond cannot be overstated. It addresses critical priorities within our district, including safety and security enhancements, repairs to our schools, career and technical education opportunities, relocation of schools, and technology. One of the most encouraging aspects of the discussion surrounding the bond is the healthy debate it has sparked. It is natural for people to have differing opinions, and I welcome the opportunity for open dialogue. Constructive discourse allows us to explore various perspectives, identify concerns, and ultimately make informed decisions that benefit everyone involved.
In our efforts to disseminate accurate information about the bond, we have leveraged modern communication channels, particularly our social media platforms. These tools have proven invaluable in reaching a wide audience and facilitating meaningful conversations. However, amidst the exchange of ideas, it has become evident that there are individuals—some of whom are not even members of our community—seeking to sow seeds of misinformation and discord.
While everyone is entitled to their opinions, it is essential to question the motives behind certain narratives. Those who have never set foot in Canutillo, have no personal stake in our schools, and contribute nothing to our tax base may not be best equipped to weigh in on the future of our district. Their intentions may not always align with the best interests of our students and our community.
I urge each of you to arm yourselves with the facts about the bond and actively participate in the conversation. Engage with the information provided, attend meetings, ask questions, and share your perspectives—whether in support or opposition. Your voice matters, and it deserves to be heard.
At the same time, I encourage you not to be swayed by individuals who lack a genuine connection to our community. Their input, while perhaps well-intentioned, should not dictate the trajectory of our district. We must remain vigilant in guarding against misinformation and baseless conjecture, ensuring that our decisions are guided by truth and evidence.
As we navigate the final stretch leading up to the bond vote, let us continue to uphold the principles of transparency, integrity, and community engagement. Together, we can shape a brighter future for the Canutillo Independent School District—one that reflects the values and aspirations of our diverse and dynamic community.
And don’t forget! Early voting is April 22-30 at two locations within Canutillo ISD: The El Paso County Northwest Annex at 435 Vinton Rd. and Gallegos Park at 7351 Bosque Rd.
