Canutillo Middle School teacher recognized for advancing computer science education

This is the image for the news article titled Canutillo Middle School teacher recognized for advancing computer science educationIt is full STEAM ahead for Canutillo Middle School teacher Lisa Roskosky who was named a 2023-2024 Hopper-Dean K-12 Fellow in recognition for her work in advancing computer science education.

The Hopper-Dean Center of Excellence for K-12 Computer Science Education is an endowed Center in the University of Texas at El Paso College of Education in partnership with the UTEP Department of Computer Science. Its mission is to advance K-12 CS Education in the Paso del Norte region.

“We are proud of Ms. Roslosky’s achievement,” said CMS Principal Christopher Judge. “She works tirelessly to not only ensure our students have access to the world of computer science but take an interest in the subject and build confidence in their ability to excel at it.”

This prestigious recognition reflects her outstanding contributions to advancing computer science education, showcasing her dedication to inspiring and equipping the next generation of innovators.

“I am very excited to be a part of the advancement of computer science education,” Roskosky said. “As a computer science teacher it is imperative that we arm our students with the skills and knowledge to empower them to pursue jobs in computer science to help grow and diversify the field.”
