Canutillo ISD schools celebrated culture with dress-up day

The day, which was held on September 15, began at participating campuses with a sense of excitement and anticipation as students arrived at school dressed in a colorful array of traditional garments. It was a visual feast of diversity, with each outfit telling a unique story about a student's background, ethnicity, and traditions.

“Wear your Cultural Clothes Day” at schools is a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate and embrace the rich diversity of cultures that make up their community,” said Canutillo ISD Academic Languages Director Maria Silva. “On this special day, students and even teachers were encouraged to wear traditional clothing that represents their cultural heritage.”

Throughout the day, schools organized various activities and events to educate students about different cultures. These activities included cultural presentations, music and dance performances, storytelling sessions and even a costume contest.

2nd Place - Eliana Fernandez

“It was a chance for students to not only showcase their own cultural pride but also learn from their peers about the customs and traditions of others,” Silva said.

In addition to the educational aspect, “Wear your Cultural Clothes Day” was not just a day of fashion but a day of cultural exchange, learning and celebration for students.
