This is the image for the news article titled Galería Canutillo Returns with new Exhibit of Student Art Student artists, teachers, and art lovers from throughout Canutillo flocked to the CISD Administration Building on Thursday evening for the opening of a new art exhibit at Galería Canutillo — the first new art show there nearly seven years.

With a show appropriately called “RE-VIVE,” the gallery launched what district administrators called the revival of the District’s premiere showcase for student art.

The show features pieces from art students at Northwest Early College High School who chose different styles and media to display their talent.

“The work here shows outstanding talent and skill by students who continue to demonstrate that the fine arts are alive and well here in Canutillo,” said Northwest art teacher Heather Cawley, who helped set up the show. “I’m grateful to the administration and Board of Trustees for their continued support of the visual arts in our school and our District.”

Cawley said the gallery, which is open to the public during business hours, is a great way to recognize the efforts of student artists.

Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz agreed. He said the District is happy to support the fine arts as an integral part of a quality education.

“Canutillo ISD is the Best Small District in Texas and El Paso’s Only Triple A Rated School District because it recognizes the importance of arts in education,” he said. “I am so impressed by the talent displayed here at Galería Canutillo and I invite everyone to come judge for themselves the talent that walks the halls of our District.”
