The three schools were the recipients of new athletic tracks that are now complete and ready to be enjoyed by student athletes.

“We are very pleased to have been able to complete this project for our secondary students,” said CISD Athletic Director Coach Scott Brooks. “Our kids deserve safe, functional facilities that help them stay active and competitive. These new tracks will help advance our athletic program at our middle schools and high school and provide more opportunities for all students and student athletes.”

The project began earlier this year and included the removal of the old track surface, leveling the newly exposed surface, recoating the asphalt and repairing cracks on all three tracks.

The new middle-school tracks replace facilities that were last installed nearly 14 years ago. The conditions of these two tracks made them unusable to students at these campuses which in turn took a toll on the CHS track that had last been updated nine years ago.

Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz said the replacement of the tracks is another effort in providing the children of Canutillo ISD with world-class facilities that will help them meet their academic and extracurricular goals.

“Our kids deserve the best and that includes giving our student athletes access to tracks that will meet their needs,” he said. “It is this commitment to student achievement that makes Canutillo ISD the Best Small School District in Texas.”
