Reyes’ partnership with the 86th Expeditionary Signal Battalion 11th Corps Signal Brigade received the Outstanding Unit and Top Hours awards.

The Fort Bliss unit and its soldiers helped Reyes’ efforts to educate and support students and their families throughout the 2021-22 school year. Their activities included campus visits, help with special events and mentorship.

“We are beyond grateful for the amazing partners we have in Fort Bliss and the soldiers that continue to make Reyes part of their own family,” said Principal Jessica Carrillo. “The work that they do to help us meet our academic and community goals is essential. Simply put, we couldn’t do it without them.”

Reyes’ work to serve military-connected students and their families is being recognized statewide. Last month, the Texas Education Agency awarded Reyes a second consecutive Purple Star Award for their commitment to military students.

Bill Childress Elementary also received a Purple Star this year.
