This is the image for the news article titled Marrufo named Canutillo High principalThe Canutillo Independent School District today announced the appointment of longtime educator Candice Marrufo as the next principal of Canutillo High School, the District’s flagship campus. Her appointment is effective immediately.

Marrufo, an experienced educator with more than 15 years as a teacher and administrator, has served as interim principal at Canutillo High School for 6 months. She previously was an assistant principal at CHS.

“Ms. Marrufo brings with her a wealth of experience both inside the classroom and in the administrative office that will take Canutillo High School to the next level,” said Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz. “In her short time as interim principal she has made great strides in improving instructional services, safety and security and operational efficiencies at the campus. I am confident she will continue to do a great job.”

Previous to her arrival in Canutillo ISD, Marrufo worked as an assistant principal in charge of guidance and instruction at Chapin High School, where she oversaw procedures and policies surrounding student success and provided leadership and mentorship to teachers and campus leaders.

Before entering administration, Marrufo served as special education teacher at Franklin High School and a special education instructional coach at Chapin.

Marrufo has a bachelor’s of business administration degree in marketing from the University of Texas at El Paso and a master’s in education administration from Grand Canyon University.
