Operation College Bound Comes to Canutillo High School

This is the image for the news article titled Operation College Bound Comes to Canutillo High SchoolThe University of Texas at El Paso and El Paso Community College visited Canutillo High School in search of a few good seniors while bearing scholarships for new recruits as a welcome gift as part of the Operation College Bound program.

The event serves as a one-stop-shop for seniors interested in attending UTEP and EPCC to finalize their enrollment to attend EPCC, sign up for new student orientation at UTEP along with sessions to answer the most pressing questions new college or first-generation college students may have about college life and processes all without having to leave their campus.

During the event, UTEP awarded five scholarships to help CHS students fund their college career at the university.

Seniors Dania Cano, Brianna Flores and Joseph Martinez received an Academic Scholarship. Excellence Scholarships were awarded to Brianna Flores and Andrea Opineda and Zoe DeAnda was awarded the UTEP Presidential Scholarship of $32,000.

“I am very proud to receive this scholarship. I have been working towards it for two years,” DeAnda said. “I am very interested in the UTEP nursing program and was determined to work hard and receive this scholarship. I am grateful.”
