This is the image for the news article titled CISD Parent University Teaches Community How to Conduct CPRA group of parents started the week off right by learning how to perform the critical lifesaving technique known as Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through the Canutillo ISD Parent University held at Canutillo Middle School STEAM Academy.

CPR is often the first line of defense in response to a number of emergencies where a person’s heart stops beating. Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest.

“It is important that members of the general public know the proper steps and techniques to be able to perform CPR in case of an emergency,” said CISD Coordinated School Health Facilitator Nancy Torres. “We are happy to see our parents come out to want to take advantage of this opportunity. You never know when you will need these skills to potentially save a life.”

Parent University sessions are organized by parent liaisons at each CISD campus and are free and open to the community.

Guest speakers from the District or local community agencies are invited to present on a variety of topics in areas to include academics, social services, technology, prevention, social and mental development, legal, physical wellness and nutrition.
