Canutillo ISD earns highest recognition in governmental accounting & financial reporting
The Canutillo ISD Finance Department team has another notch on their belts when it comes to excellence in financial integrity and transparency. The District has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) as a result of the group’s efforts.
“We are committed to continue our path in building trust with our community by demonstrating that we are being prudent and transparent with District funding,” said Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz. “Awards such as the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting let our constituents know that we are not only being good stewards with their money but we are going above and beyond in financial reporting.”
The District has received the recognition for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2022. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
This latest achievement adds to a roster of accolades the District has earned for financial integrity. Earlier this year, Canutillo ISD was also among a handful of state districts to earn the prestigious Award of Excellence in Financial Management award from the Texas Association of School Business Officials – the largest school-finance organization in the state. The award is given to Texas school districts and education services centers that demonstrate professional standards, best practices, and innovations in the area of financial management and reporting.
