Students at Northwest Early College High School got the chance to display their artistic talents in various mediums at the Fine Arts Showcase which showed that fine arts are fired up on the campus.

The campus’ own house band “The Gig” revved up the crowd with their rock renditions, while the Northwest Dance Club demoed their dance moves. The Griffin Writers Club got to share their stylings with poetry readings read by the Drama Club and the Arts Club displayed their best sketches and paintings.

The campus officially offers visual arts studies with art 1 - 4 classes, all other areas of fine arts are initiated and brought to fruition by the students through their creation and participation in clubs. The Fine Arts Showcase began in 2019 as an outlet for the various fine arts clubs to demonstrate their talents and interests.

This year was the first time the campus revisited the showcase since the pandemic with a performance for the student body during the school day and an extended program in the evening, for parents, family, and other guests.

“The showcase was a great opportunity for our students to share their talents in all areas of the fine arts,” said NWECHS Principal Frank Clark. “Since we are not a traditional high school, it is a common misconception that all we focus on is academics but our students do have opportunities to hone their creativity with the arts and we have a very talented pool of writers, actors, artists and musicians. It was a pleasure to get to share this collective talent with parents and the community.”
