A group of students at Canutillo High school are broadening their horizons by establishing a new student organization aimed at fostering cross-cultural understanding and celebrating diversity within the school community.
Last week the newly established Canutillo High School International Student Organization held its first official meeting where the group discussed the organization's mission, selected officers, planned for future activities and events and brainstormed on a look for their organization.
Led by a group of passionate students and supported by dedicated teachers, this organization hopes to become a vibrant hub for students from various cultural backgrounds.
As the first international student organization at Canutillo High School, the group of students and staff hope to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where students from diverse backgrounds can come together, learn from one another and work towards a more interconnected and understanding world.
“It serves as a testament to our students and staff that they would take the initiative to make an organization such as this one happen here at our campus,” said Principal Candice Marrufo. “They are expressing a desire to lead and commit to being global citizens who value diversity. We are eager to support this organization to grow and fulfill its mission.”
The International Student Organization plans to participate in at least four activities this academic year focused on team building, community service, culture and academics. Through these efforts, the organization not only aims to enrich the lives of its members but also make a positive impact on the wider community.
