Update as of Thursday, Feb. 4, 2022 - 3:00 p.m.


In response to the anticipated freezing temperatures in the region, all Canutillo Independent School District schools, offices and facilities will be on a two-hour delayed start on Friday, Feb. 4.

Buses will run on a two-hour delayed start from the normal pick-up time. Breakfast will not be served due to the delay, but can be provided before class to students who require it. Lunch will be provided to students at their regular designated lunchtimes.

Essential personnel will report to work at their regular scheduled times, while all other staff will report two hours later than their usual start time. Supervisors and campus administration will provide their staff with pertinent information.

Due to severe weather for the safety of students and staff, Canutillo Independent School District schools, offices, and facilities will be closed Thursday, Feb. 3 to all students and staff. A start time for Friday, Feb. 4 will be made tomorrow pending weather conditions.

Any updates on any possible further delays or closures will be communicated to parents and students via text, phone call, and email through the District’s message system for those who have opted in to receive campus and district communications through the Parent Portal. Staff will be notified by email and their supervisors or campus administration.

The public is encouraged to frequently check the Canutillo ISD website and the District’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) for the most updated information.

Canutillo Independent School District is closely monitoring the severe weather situation anticipated on Thursday, Feb. 3. The District will notify parents, students, staff and general public when conditions are evaluated and a decision is determined early Thursday morning, by 6 a.m.. The safety of students and staff is the top priority in considering the best course of action.

Parents and students will be notified of any school delays or closures via text, phone call and email through the District’s message system for those who have opted in to receive campus and district communications through the Parent Portal. Staff will be notified by email and their supervisors or campus administration.
