This is the image for the news article titled 2 CISD Teams Take Top Place at UIL CompetitionStudents in the Best Small District in Texas were in it to win it at this year’s University Interscholastic League (UIL) competition where teams from Congressman Silvestre and Carolina Reyes Elementary and Jose J. Alderete Middle School were named District Champions by taking first place in their grade level academic divisions.

Students from throughout the District participated in the annual competition that challenges participants to think critically and creatively while exhibiting more than knowledge and comprehension.

“We are very proud of all our competitors who took part in the UIL competition this year,” said CISD Superintendent Dr. Pedro Galaviz. “They put in a great deal of dedication by spending time after school preparing and learning additional material outside of the classroom in order to compete with their peers from across the region. All our kids did an excellent job.”

UIL offers the most comprehensive program of academic competition in the nation with numerous activities that complement the academic curriculum. These activities help to motivate grades 2 - 8 and high school students as they acquire higher levels of knowledge, challenge them to confront issues of importance, and provide them the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of specific skills.

Congratulations to Reyes Elementary and Alderete students and stuff and to all our CISD competitors!
