CISD received a star in the area of Traditional Finances, which recognizes entities for their outstanding efforts in making their spending and revenue information available.

Transparency Stars recognizes local government entities that provide easy online access to important financial data.

“This is a great accomplishment for the CISD Finance team. It demonstrates the district’s commitment to transparency and to working collaboratively with our stakeholders,” said Martha Piekarski, Chief Business Officer.

This Transparency Star Award is the latest recognition in a long list of accolades, joining the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), the Certificate of Achievement (COA) for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for four consecutive years, the Certificate of Excellence (COE) in Financial Reporting by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), and lastly, an improved credit rating of Aa3 – by Moody’s Investors Service.

“By providing meaningful financial data in addition to visual tools and analysis of its revenues and expenditures, Canutillo ISD has shown a true commitment to Texas taxpayers. This effort achieves the goals set by my office’s Transparency Stars program,” Hegar said. “I am pleased to award CISD a star for its accomplishments.”
